A holiday to Northern Queensland would not be complete without a visit to the four National Parks; Rainforest Wildlife Habitat Sanctuary, Rainforest Nature Park, Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, and the Cairns Wildlife Dome. The pass enables self drive tourists to visit the parks at their own speed and is ideal for families.
Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary
Visitors to this park can experience three different environments and see the wildlife inhabiting them. The wetlands where wading birds are seen foraging for crustaceans under the boardwalks. The rainforest, where boardwalks along the forest floor allow visitors to see creatures such as the Southern Cassowary. In the grasslands section feed bay kangaroos and wallabies and observe the crocodiles.
Rainforestation Nature Park
Experience world rainforest heritage, culture and native wildlife in the Rainforestation Nature Park near Kuranda. An army duck will transport visitors over land and water. The tropical orchard has over 40 kinds of tropical fruit trees. The interactive Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience will enable visitors to learn about the culture of the indigenous people in this area. Try digeridoo playing, boomerang throwing and dancing on the Dreamtime Walk. Meet the koalas, kangaroos and wallabies on the Koala and Wildlife Park and join in feeding baby kangaroos.
Australian Butterfly Sanctuary
Visit the largest butterfly sanctuary in Australia in the heart of Kuranda. With so many species you will learn a lot about their habitat and patterns in this fascinating park.
Cairns Wildlife Dome
This all weather glass domed sanctuary in the middle of Cairns is home to many of the rainforest wildlife. Meet the saltwater crocodile, parrots, kookaburras, wallabies and many more in this beautiful environment. Guided tours are available.
