Daintree Cape Tribulation 4WD
Meet the wildlife of Australia where the rainforest meets the sea
After being met by your naturalist guide at your hotel we drive the scenic coastal route northwards to Mossman using 4 wheel drive vehicles which are the only appropriate form of transport for this journey. Coastal scenery contrasts with the rich farmland.
After a short tea break the mighty Daintree River awaits as we take a short river boat trip and learn about estuarine crocodiles, mangrove forests and other wildlife living here.
The World Heritage Tropical Rainforest awaits as we ascend the Alexandra Range with its views over the Coral Sea. Experience the rainforest close up on the boardwalk trail as wildlife, fauna and flora is pointed out to you by the guide. Maybe you will be lucky and spot a rare Southern Cassowary amongst the many species that live in this habitat.
After a refreshing barbecue lunch where you have the opportunity to feed a kangaroo whilst having a cold drink at the bar. The trip offers a little bit more as we travel along the 4 WD Bloomfield Track beyond Cape Tribulation to Emmagen creek where we can swim in a rainforest stream. Observe turtles and small fish, exotic flowers and birds, all in this beautiful natural environment. Have some refreshing fruit and a glass of cold wine as you relax in this tiny paradise.
There may be time to swim in the Coral Sea (seasonal) from Cape Tribulation Beach or take a walk along the rainforest boardwalk and the photography platform where views of the mountains and forest await. We cross the Daintree River once more by cable ferry and return to our hotels, reflecting on our rainforest experience.
