Kuranda, the Tablelands and Skybury Coffee- Scenic Train/ Skyrail
Enjoy a trip to the rainforest, farmland and a coffee plantation- all in one day
Travelling by Kuranda Scenic Train we arrive in Kuranda village, famous for its arts and crafts work and heritage. With the Kuranda Market held on a Wednesday, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays you can observe the township at its best. Other attractions include the Butterfly Sanctuary, Bird world and the koala Park.
Moving onwards to the Tablelands- visit a plateau rich with farmland producing crops such as macadamia, coffee, peanuts and tropical fruit. Your guide will explain the history of European heritage and the wildlife in this area.
Visit Skybury, the oldest coffee plantation in Queensland and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee. A lunch is available in the plantation restaurant.
The Granite Gorge is on the itinerary after lunch, huge granite boulders pushed up by volcanic activity. This is home to many native animals and you may even see a Mareeba Rock Wallaby. Take a swim in a rock pool or a walk through the stone wilderness or just feed the wallabies.
Finally take the Skyrail over the rainforest canopy of and down to the coast and onwards to the cairns Base Station.
